Meet Kara Alley

Founder of Two Birds Travel | Certified Travel Advisor | Memory Maker-in-Chief

You might be wondering: Who starts a travel business during a global pandemic?
Well… hi, I’m Kara—and I did exactly that.

I’m a wife of 25+ years, a mom to two (mostly) grown kids, and for a good stretch of time, I was a full-time stay-at-home parent. I’ve always loved to travel—thanks to parents who prioritized exploring the world, even on a budget—and as I grew older, that love only deepened. I didn’t want cookie-cutter vacations; I wanted experiences that felt bold, immersive, and full of meaning. Honeymoon in St. Lucia? Yes. Rainforest adventures in Costa Rica? Absolutely. Cruises with our kids, trips with our parents, spontaneous escapes with friends? All of it.

But it was a pandemic conversation with a friend that changed everything.

We were chatting about the (then-complicated) rules for international travel—testing, quarantine, insurance, and what would happen if you got sick abroad. I realized I had already mentally planned dozens of trips just to stay sane. But more importantly, I surprised myself with how much I genuinely loved helping her feel confident and informed. It felt indulgent, exciting, useful—and it sparked something deep inside me.

I dove in headfirst.

I became a certified travel advisor and began building a business that combined my love for research, connection, and creative problem-solving. I didn’t want to book generic vacations. I wanted to plan the trips people thought might be too complicated—families with special needs, unique group dynamics, tight budgets, or long wish lists.

I sought out the best in the business: local guides with infectious passion, chefs who tell stories through food, and hidden-gem accommodations that feel like a warm hug at the end of the day. I started keeping tabs on the little places that make a big impact, the ones you’d never find in a brochure.

And just like that, Two Birds Travel took flight.

Why Work With Me?

Because I know travel isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Because I believe in bonding over shared adventures and laughing through the inevitable hiccups.
Because I’ve been where you are—overwhelmed, excited, unsure where to begin.
And because helping you design your dream trip isn’t just my job—it’s my joy.

Let’s be real: You could book your trip through a giant travel site. But those platforms won’t know that you hate queen sized beds, don’t like mornings, that your teen gets carsick on winding roads, or that your anniversary deserves more than a generic room with a view of the parking lot. I can usually meet or beat the prices you see online—but with way better perks: room upgrades, flexible check-ins, resort credits, and thoughtful extras that those booking engines simply don’t offer. Plus, I’m a real human—someone who listens, understands your priorities, and will actually pick up the phone if things go sideways. This isn’t just about clicking “book”—it’s about building a trip that feels personal, seamless, and unforgettable.

Let’s take the stress off your shoulders and put the wonder back in travel.
